Business Development Representative

The Room is a SaaS-based MediaTech marketplace that helps brands to most effectively source people of influence to amplify their marketing spend. Our mission is to unlock peoples’ true love for brands. Our clients include O2, Samsung, HelloFresh and MARS, to name just a few.

The Role

It’s an exciting time to join The Room. We are scaling rapidly and hiring inspiring, thoughtful, and motivated people to push us forward. We are seeking a highly motivated and driven Business Development Representative to help expand our already impressive roster of clients. This is a role which is central to fulfilling our own ambitious goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities

  • Contact potential clients through cold calls and emails

  • Present our company to potential clients

  • Identify client needs and suggest appropriate products/services

  • Customise product solutions to increase customer satisfaction

  • Build long-term trusting relationships with clients

  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market

  • Set up meetings or calls between (prospective) clients and Account Executives

  • Track all sales activities in the company CRM system and keep current by updating account information regularly

  • Operate across a number of channels, including social media, cold calling, email marketing and networks, to build a good pipeline of prospects

Job requirements

The Person

To thrive in this role it is essential that you fit the following criteria:

  • At least 1 year of sales experience

  • A genuine passion for winning new business

  • A strong work ethic, buckets of self-motivation, and a personal drive for competitive environments and targets

  • Proven track record of achieving sales quotas

  • A demonstrable passion for working within the startup ecosystem

  • Resilient and accustomed to selling on the phone within a competitive environment

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Although not essential, it would definitely help if you met these criteria:

  • Experience in selling within a SaaS subscription business model

  • A strong understanding of digital marketing, e-commerce, and marketing technology
